Erwin Roelofs, PhD is a dedicated lawyer who is committed to continuous learning and development.

 

Erwin completed his studies at Utrecht University in Notarial Law (cum laude) and Tax Law (with honours) in 2006. His thesis (entitled "De private express trust en de legitieme portie. Civielrechtelijke en fiscaalrechtelijke aspecten" (in English: "The Private Express Trust and forced heirship. Private Law and Tax Law Aspects")) was awarded with the prestigious François award of the Royal Dutch Association for International Law.

 

Erwin Roelofs worked as a deputy civil-law notary specialised in national and international corporate law and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) at Loyens & Loeff N.V. in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Furthermore, Erwin worked as a counsel and deputy civil-law notary at HVK Stevens, as an underwriter M&A insurance at Liberty Global Transaction Solutions, part of Liberty Mutual Insurance, and as an adviser at Schuiteman Corporate Finance.

 

As of 2022, Erwin holds a position as Assistant Professor corporate law at Molengraaff Institute for Private Law of Utrecht University, where he is involved in legal research and teaching in the fields of company law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial procedures, cross-border corporate mobility and bachelor- and master theses.

 

Erwin holds a Ph.D in corporate law (topic: cross-border division of companies with limited liability (Utrecht University, 2014)).

 

With more than 60 publications, Erwin is one of the recognised specialists in the field of European and Dutch corporate law.
